BETTER THAN LEATHER Lunging Cavesson

Normally I don’t write reviews on things, but I was blown away by this Cavesson. I’ll try to summarize this to be short. I have tried other “cheap” cavessons before. I will not mention brands because the company has always been good to me. They broke, were bulky , didn’t fit well or I just didn’t like the feel. I’ve discarded them and given them away to friends. I almost caved and bought a $300 cavesson. I have a pinto mare that is too smart for her own good. I bought her from the auction and she is very pushy on the ground. To put it frankly she’s nuttier than squirrel crap some days and she badly needed some ground work to instill some manners back in her. I typically like 4 knot training halters for most difficult horses that come through me, but with her they really didn’t work all that well. Sure , I could get her to comply and stay at bay in it but it was rather frustrating to say the least. I knew she would benefit from something that applied a different kind of pressure and leverage. So I figured, I have nothing to lose , this cavesson has one good reveiw. So I ordered it. I used it for the first time on my mare tonight, and it worked amazing!! I didn’t feel like I was fighting her at all while lunging her , she tried to run over me and with this cavessons leverage I was able to curb it without having to be overly aggressive. I had her softly changing directions and bending . For once working her wasn’t frustrating, it was enjoyable!!! I was astounded with what a difference this made and I am excited to work her again on Sunday in it. She left the round pen tonight as polite as ever and I didn’t even use a quarter of my energy to achieve that. She’s got a pretty tiny head so I ordered cob size. If I cannot get that to fit my larger quarter horses fat head I will be ordering another one in a larger size. Thank you two horse tack for making such a cost effective awesome lunging cavesson!!!

I am happy with the purchase. It is working for my needs. I wish it was padded like the matching surcingle. Also the snap is outfacing, so I cannot tie my horse in it. There are slow feed nets where the horses get tied in my barn, and she scratches the sides of her cheeks on them and will catch the hay net in an outward facing snap and then panic because it is attached to her face. I have no idea why the horse industry keeps using outward facing snaps!!! 🙄
