BETTER THAN LEATHER No Pull Back Halter

Let me start off by saying this is NOT a rope halter. It is meant to prevent the pull back only, but not the pressure for the nose. I have a fiesty 6 year old Gypsy/Cob QH so it was a great test for me. The quality is 5 out of 5. Stitching is nice, the halter is soft yet durable in the hands, buckles are great and everything is put together well. I do like the underthroat latch snap as well. Sizing seems on par for a cob (which is what I reviewed). IT is easy to clean, it does attract a little extra dirt quickly but wipes off easily as well. Now for the negative. It is not meant to use nose pressure. So if they get their head down, (as in to eat grass), the leverage is different to try to bring them back up. The rope for the poll does an adequate job, however, if you have a pantene hair flipper, like I do, you will find that the rope will go above the back head piece, below, etc.. But this does not change the functionality. The couple of times that she tried to pull away from something, she met immediate resistance and gave to pressure. I do like the little bit extra resistance if needed. Overall, a very solid 4 out of 5. Has its good points and is a very well piece of craftsmanship. This is not an item that would be used to control a difficult horse as the missing nose pressure could be a detriment. However, for that horse that likes to test the pull back, could be a useful piece for the tackroom.
